Terms of Use
Effective date: 1 March 2026
1. Introduction
MakanMatch is a platform operated by Appsol Technologies, a company registered in Singapore. By accessing or using MakanMatch, whether as a Home Chef, a Neighbour, or a visitor, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the platform.
These Terms of Use apply to all users of the MakanMatch platform, including its website, waitlist, and any future application or service we operate under the MakanMatch brand.
2. Platform Description
MakanMatch is a marketplace that connects Home Chefs, individuals who prepare and sell home-cooked meals, with Neighbours, local buyers who wish to purchase those meals within their community in Singapore.
MakanMatch is not a restaurant, caterer, or food delivery company. We provide the technology platform that facilitates connections and transactions between independent Home Chefs and Neighbours. We do not prepare, handle, or deliver food ourselves.
All food is prepared by independent Home Chefs operating under their own responsibility and in compliance with applicable Singapore regulations.
3. User Eligibility
To register and use MakanMatch, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be a resident of Singapore with a valid residential address.
- Provide accurate and complete contact information, including a valid email address and phone number.
- Have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements under Singapore law.
By registering, you confirm that all information you provide is truthful and up to date. MakanMatch reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts where eligibility requirements are not met.
4. Home Chef Obligations
Home Chefs are independent operators responsible for their own compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. As a Home Chef on MakanMatch, you agree to:
- Hold a valid Singapore Food Agency (SFA) SAFE Framework certification prior to listing any dishes for sale.
- Comply fully with HDB and URA home business guidelines, including restrictions on signage, customer visits, and commercial activity from residential premises.
- Maintain kitchen hygiene standards consistent with SFA requirements, including proper food storage, preparation, and handling practices.
- Accurately describe all dishes, including ingredients, preparation methods, and any known allergens. Failure to disclose allergens that cause harm may result in immediate account suspension and potential legal liability.
- Keep your menu, availability, and pricing up to date at all times.
- Respond to orders and Neighbour inquiries promptly and professionally.
5. Neighbour Obligations
As a Neighbour purchasing meals on MakanMatch, you agree to:
- Provide accurate delivery or pickup information, including your correct address and contact number, at the time of placing an order.
- Pay promptly for all orders placed through the platform. Orders are confirmed only upon successful payment.
- Treat Home Chefs with respect. Abusive, threatening, or discriminatory behaviour toward any Home Chef will result in account suspension.
- Notify Home Chefs of any dietary restrictions or allergies before placing an order. MakanMatch cannot guarantee allergen-free preparation environments.
6. Payments and Fees
MakanMatch charges a platform fee of 5% on each completed transaction. This fee is deducted from the Home Chef's payout.
Founding Chefs who join during the pre-launch or launch period will have their 5% platform fee rate locked in for a period of 12 months from the date of their first completed transaction.
All payments on MakanMatch are processed securely through our payment provider. MakanMatch does not store full payment card details. By completing a transaction, you agree to the payment provider's terms and conditions.
MakanMatch reserves the right to adjust its platform fee structure with 30 days' written notice to affected users, except where a locked rate applies.
7. Cancellations and Refunds
The following cancellation and refund policy applies to all transactions:
- Cancellation before preparation begins: Neighbours who cancel an order before the Home Chef has begun preparing the meal are entitled to a full refund. The Home Chef must confirm the preparation status.
- Cancellation after preparation begins: No refund will be issued once a Home Chef has started preparing the order, except where a confirmed food safety issue is identified and substantiated through MakanMatch's dispute resolution process.
- Food safety disputes: If a Neighbour believes a food safety issue has occurred, they must contact MakanMatch within 24 hours of receiving the order. MakanMatch will facilitate resolution but is not the final arbiter of food safety liability.
Refunds that are approved will be processed within 5 to 10 business days, depending on the payment provider.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on the MakanMatch platform, including but not limited to the brand name, logo, website design, text, graphics, and software, is the property of MakanMatch / Appsol Technologies and is protected under applicable intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any platform content without prior written permission from Appsol Technologies.
Home Chefs retain ownership of the content they upload (such as dish photos and descriptions) but grant MakanMatch a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and use that content for platform operations and promotional purposes.
9. Limitation of Liability
The MakanMatch platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Appsol Technologies makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the platform's uninterrupted availability, accuracy, or suitability for any particular purpose.
MakanMatch is not liable for food quality disputes between Home Chefs and Neighbours. Our role is to facilitate introductions and transactions, and to support dispute resolution where possible. Final responsibility for the quality and safety of food rests with the Home Chef who prepared it.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Appsol Technologies' total liability to any user in connection with the platform shall not exceed the total platform fees paid by or attributable to that user in the 3 months preceding the claim.
10. Governing Law
These Terms of Use are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
MakanMatch encourages users to contact us directly to resolve disputes before initiating legal proceedings.
